Here's a thing that is going down in my neck of the woods :

Raleigh, N.C. — The Wake County Board of Education voted Tuesday to end its long-standing diversity policy in student assignment in favor of a neighborhood schools concept.

By a 5-4 vote, the board approved a resolution to begin planning for the phase out of the policy. The move will allow students to go to schools closer to home, regardless of the socio-economic makeup of the student body.

Reassigning students to ensure schools had no more than 40 percent of students receiving free or reduced-price lunches has been controversial for years. It was a key point in last year's election, in which voters elected four candidates who said they supported changing the policy in favor of neighborhood schools.
School board member Anne McLaurin said Tuesday before the vote that the resolution called for additional research, public feedback and financial cost analysis.
"We have not done any of these things,†she said.
School board member John Tedesco argued the resolution was only a direction and that more discussion would follow.
“We are going to have opportunities to have our committees and our communities participate in that process,†he added.

After hearing from dozens of people who signed up to speak before the board, Tedesco joined board Chairman Ron Margiotta and members Deborah Prickett, Chris Malone and Debra Goldman in voting in favor of the resolution, while McLaurin and board members Keith Sutton, Kevin Hill and Carolyn Morrison voted against it.
Those in the crowd opposed to the vote joined in an impromptu rally led by the Rev. William Barber, the state's NAACP president.
Barber has threatened to sue the board if it moves away from the diversity policy. He says research shows schools with large majorities of poor children fail because they are underfunded, have a high teacher turnover and low student performance.
Barber and supporters of the diversity policy said neighborhood schools is a move toward re-segregation.
Margiotta, who broke the tie and passed the resolution, said the district's new direction will not segregate students.
"We have laws, we have court rulings, and we have morality. It is something that would never be tolerated by anyone on the school board,†he said.
Barber said he will be watching the school board’s proceedings closely.
"We are not going anywhere. We are not going anywhere,†he said.
The resolution calls for a second and final vote, which will be taken at the next school board meeting.

Here in the FORMERLY segregated south there is great contention when there is a suspected return to those times.

I get it, I truly do .... I understand the argument of 'cultural integration breeding a better understanding of cultural difference'.

But the Busing policy or what is actually named the "DIVERSITY" policy is a fucking fiscal ball busting joke.

Case point :

Just NOW this morning I am parked on a residential street in N. Raleigh, ( working .. not perv-ing) I watched a line of parents park on the street to wait with their kids because it is rainy and cold. Apparently the buses all stop at a central point rather than trying to navigate the various small streets in the sub division and so on.

So here comes bus # 1. only about 1/3 of the 30 or so kids boards that bus.

Bus #2 same deal ...

Bus # 3 same... And the mixture of age groups appeared to be about the same amongst the 3 buses.

The issues here is, is BECAUSE of the diversity program SOMEONE had to decide the racial mixture from that neighborhood that needed to be shipped across town to add "cultural diversity" to a school that was deemed lacking in said diversity.

The added issue is that there is a middle school less than 1/8 of a mile from this VERY spot yet MOST of these kids get transported elsewhere.

A 44 pax bus is a fuel hog, maintenance costs run wild and a bus driver gets paid well above the minimum wage.

I surmise that Tens of thousands of $$ PER CHILD could be saved just on transport alone over a child's last FOUR years of school.

And yet ... the local NAACP and the normal race bait crowd and white guilt crowd was out thinking that another black man got lynched ...

Fuckers piss me off .. its not race its goddamn $$ and goddamn common fucking sense.

Just because a neighborhood is affluent does NOT mean that the kids of that area will have an educational advantage when going to a PUBLIC school, its the same goddamn shitty curricula taught all across the state because of shitty state mandates so the educational disadvantage argument is moot especially since all PUBLIC schools get a share in taxes.

Also .. if the diversity mandate is in place because some one thought integrating the kids would lead to more cultural equality then SOMEONE is saying that one race is culturally devoid and NEEDS to integrate to learn from another race.

If I were one of these so called "minorities" I would be fucking pissed that I was being told that my neighborhood is so shitty that I am unable to bring up an educated, culturally aware child without STATE MANDATES.

As it is I'm just a PISSED OFF WHITE MAN and according to MOST these days that means I am a racists and it instantly negates any argument I may try to put forward when it is contrary to the current PC 'equality' crowd.

To hell with busing.
I remember, finishing elementary school in Reseda/Van Nuys California, wondering why my Mexican friends I grew up with were now taking a bus clear across town just to go to school, when there was one just around the corner from their homes?? This was in the 70's............

We grew up together, lived nearby, went to the same schools. And living so close to schools and friends, we could get together afterward and do school kid things.

But nooooooooooooooo. The whiney whites and " There's foul play" barking blacks have to interfere with something that does not even concern them.

Stupidity.
